This large utensil crock is one of the most elegant ones I've seen around. It is hand-painted in rich "old world" earthy tones, lots of browns, beiges, siennas, sage, blacks, and rust reds. The picture doesn't do the colors justice! It features a beautiful and "sage" looking Tabby cat on the front, who is lying amidst her own personal library. It's such a fun scene because there are titles on the books such as: "Rodents, Vol V", "Furballs I have Thrown", "Furever Amber, by F.E.Line", a entire set of "Felis Cattus", "The Call of the Wild Cat", "Pussy Willlows and Cat Tails, The Art of the Wild Garden", "MouseTrap", "Guide to Goldfish", "Catales and othe Reads", "Cat and Mouse Checkers" "Flush the Thrush", "Cat Mint and Old Lace", "The Purrfect Crime, by A. Mousser", "My Life as a Cat", "The Mouse on the Hill", "The World According to Cats", a collection of Shakespaw, and of course my favorite, "Cat in the Hat"! She is also lying contentedly among feathered ink wells and pens, reading glasses, bird houses, decorative eggs, stuffed rats, reading candles, entwined letters, a big bird, and much , much more! Too cute!
The crock is made of solid ceramic, glazed to an eggshell white inside and on the rim. It has a wide mouth, 16.5" in diameter and will hold many kitchen utensils. It comes with a free set of wooden spoons. An absolutely adorable addition to your kitchen decor, and purr-fect for the cat lover on your list. Although the box says it is "available in a wide variety of licensed artwork", to me it appears to be the syle of Charles Wysocki and almost looks like his "Frederick the Literate" piece. Christmas is coming, purchase early - these won't last!
